Orion covers LGBTQ+ news, focused on state politics, breaking news and the underreported experiences of queer and transgender people. He previously covered breaking news at Axios and contributed research to "Axios on HBO" projects on former President Trump. His reporting has been twice nominated for GLAAD's Outstanding Online Journalism Award and published by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Neiman Lab, USA Today, the Miami Herald, and Teen Vogue, among other outlets.

Outside of work, he has mentored students at the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists annual conference and joined many classroom discussions with aspiring journalists (and students who want to enter politics) to share his experiences as a transgender man covering his own community. He lives and works in Washington, D.C.
