Monika Bauerlein is CEO of Mother Jones, which recently merged with the Center for Investigative Reporting to create a multiplatform newsroom reaching audiences via Mother Jones' digital, social, and print channels, the Reveal radio show and podcast, and the documentary film unit CIR Studios. Previously, Bauerlein served as Mother Jones' co-editor with Clara Jeffery; they were honored with the I.F Stone Medal, the Pen/Nora Magid Award, and multiple National Magazine Awards for growing Mother Jones from, as the PEN judges wrote, "a respected indie publication to an internationally recognized powerhouse." Bauerlein has also been an alternative-weekly editor, a correspondent in Washington, D.C. and at the United Nations, an AP stringer, corporate trainer, sausage slinger and fishing-line packager. She lives in Oakland.
