Azam Ahmed is an international investigative correspondent for the New York Times. He was previously the bureau chief for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, and prior to that bureau chief for the Times in Kabul, Afghanistan.

His work has been recognized with the George Polk award, the Michael Kelly Award, the Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism and the Overseas Press Club Award.

He is the author of Fear Is Just A Word, which was named as one of the best books of the year by The New Yorker, The Economist and Amazon, among others.
