Laura Lee is the news director of BPR (Blue Ridge Public Radio), the NPR station in Western North Carolina. In late 2024, she managed coverage of Hurricane Helene, the most devastating storm in the state’s history.
Lee was an attorney before beginning her journalism career at NPR as a producer. She returned to her native North Carolina where she managed WUNC radio’s live daily talk show. A strong advocate for local and regional news, she led two award-winning statewide nonprofit newsrooms.
