James B. Steele is an investigative journalist who has received virtually every major national reporting award, including two Pulitzer Prizes, two National Magazine awards and six George Polk awards. He is the co-author with his longtime reporting partner, the late Donald L. Barlett, of nine books, including two New York Times bestsellers. Steele and Barlett worked together for four decades, first at The Philadelphia Inquirer, then at Time and later at Vanity Fair. Steele has been a professor of journalism at Princeton University and speaks widely to professional groups and universities. In recognition of his contributions to journalism, Temple University created the James B. Steele Chair in Journalism Innovation in the Lew Klein College of Media and Communication. His most recent book is America: What Went Wrong? The Crisis Deepens.
