Alexa Koenig is a co-director of UC Berkeley’s Human Rights Center, director of the center’s Investigations Program, and a research professor at Berkeley Law. She co-founded and directs UC Berkeley’s award-winning Investigations Lab, directed development of the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations, and has trained journalists and others around the world in digital fact-finding. Alexa is a co-author and co-editor of several books, including Graphic: Trauma and Meaning in Our Online Lives (Cambridge Univ. Press 2023), as well as the forthcoming At an Intersection: Using Online Sources to Investigate Conflict-Related Sexual and Gender-Based Crimes (UC Press 2026) and Digital Witness: Using Open Source Information for Human Rights Investigation, Documentation and Accountability (Oxford Univ. Press 2020, 2d ed. 2026).
