Garance Burke is a global investigative journalist at The Associated Press, where she leads high-impact projects at the intersection of technology and society. An expert on AI ethics, she wrote the AP Stylebook’s new AI chapter and helped draft ethical standards for AI use. She was a Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence-John S Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University in ‘20.

Burke has led multi-format teams whose reporting spurred significant real-world change. Her work was the subject of a FRONTLINE PBS documentary film collaboration that won a National News & Documentary Emmy. She’s been a Pulitzer Prize finalist and received awards including the RFK John Seigenthaler Prize for Courage in Journalism. San Francisco-based, she has public policy/documentary degrees and began work in Mexico at El Financiero and The Washington Post.
