Matthew Watkins is managing editor for news and politics at The Texas Tribune, an online nonprofit newsroom focused on politics and public policy in Texas. He has served as juror for the Pulitzer Prizes and stories he has written or edited have received recognition from the Peabody Awards, Edward R. Murrow Awards, Investigative Reporters and Editors and the Online News Association, among others. He joined the Tribune in 2015 as a reporter covering state politics and higher education, and previously covered local government at The Dallas Morning News and The Eagle in Bryan-College Station, Tex.
